Business relationships are the same way. Some are short term one hit deals, and others are long term relationships that lead to mutual business deals, referrals and more. So how do we build long term VS one hit deals. when it comes to B2B relationships what I do is build the relationships by networking. As I network, I get to know people and people get to know me. Some you hit it off with right away,  some you feel ok with, and some you just don't at all.  Also it may take a little time before people do business with you. Like some things, nobody wants to be first especially if you are not well known. I. e Chambers and Business Networks etc.

The important thing here is not to shove your business in front of people and run them away. (If you are part of a chamber or network group chances are they have heard your pitch) Take the time to get to know people. Offer to have a one on one meeting where you get in a non business setting where everything is level. The opening should be something personal about yourself to break the ice and let the conversation lead you into business. Jumping right into your pitch will make a person feel uncomfortable and you will lose any chance of a relationship at all. As you are talking, find ways to help each others business. This is mutually beneficial and tells the person you are talking to that it's not just about you! You will be very surprised at the outcome of your one on one if you take this direction.

Now when it comes to customers or clients, the above mentioned can also be very useful. Making a person comfortable and listening is the best form of customer service one can give, and the person is more than likely to do business with you then go somewhere else.

One thing I hate is a pushy rude sales person, especially the ones that talk over you and try to tell you what you need without listening to what you want first. People as a rule just want you to listen, then once they have finished telling you what they want, will then let you tell them what they need base on what they have told you. That is how you build a long lasting customer relationship.

However we did run across some Website's that were quite pleasing and appealing. What we found was sites with nice titles that grabbed our attention, some neat sliders showing pictures from posts, great colors that were inviting and soothing and good content.

As we went through the products page, everything was neat and simple with good product information and the sites we easy to navigate from the homepage throughout. We also found the Blog page very interesting reading with good content as well.

So today's lesson Guys and Gals is to remember, when either building your site yourself or have it built, go for simplicity and functionality. Keep your site inviting, warm, search engine friendly and professional looking. You don't need a lot of flash and content overload. Keep it short and sweet, and use pictures to tell the story..
 

This is called a visual buzz.. Or how some talking about a concert or sale or movie, etc. that is word of mouth… So if this can work for others, why not put it into action for you!…. Some years ago I have a corner office in a 16 story building, paying $2,200.00 per month rent, $1,800.00in phone bills and salaries. I had Great location, wonderful view and a Incredible secretary. As things went on I noticed one thing. As silly as it seemed, no one was coming through the door. I offered a great service, most of my clients found us in the phone book or on the internet, and most of the business was done by phone. But things started to get slow.. real slow, to the point where every month was a struggle.

So I was looking out of  my Big Ass Window, and looked down at all the traffic walking and driving by. I could not hear anything that was going on out in the world. Huummm… I called to my secretary and so look down there. All those people are our potential clients, but they don’t know we exist. She looked at me and flipped her hair and said, Then GO GET’UM! That night I started thinking about that statement and the bells went off.

I need to create a buzz to let people know we are here. So I made a really great flyer and had it printed. Now some will say this is old school and expensive. Yes and No! What was expensive was the ridiuals rent and phone bill I was paying on top the a salary for my secretary.

So anyway.. I said to myself.. Self you are in an office building. Who comes to an office building? People who do business!. So I went to the parking lot and put my index card sized flyers on cars in the lot.Then I went to some of the lunch spots in the area an offered a little something for referrals. I even told the business owners give them my consultant services to them for free.  Well I’ll be.. 2 days later the phones started to ring and people actually got to see my incredible secretary, and told her whom they were referred by. To my surprise it was from the very business owner I had offered free services too.

The moral of this story is if people don’t know you’re there, you are missing out on so much opportunity it’s not funny. Everyone is your potential customer or form of advertisement. You just need to create a Buzz to bring people to you! offer a little something for their time an effort, make an index card size flyer and alway have business cards with you. If you are in a store say in line at the market. Talk to people in front of you or behind you. You never know who is listening to your conversation or who you may be talking too.

Step Into the light and leave your comfort zone, and you will be surprised how you can elevate your business in a very short time. Someone out there needs and wants what you have…. Be a Fisherman or woman, and GO GET THE FISH! Just thought I’d share the long story with you. Happy Fishing!
